LOCATION
Phan Thiet is the provincial capital of Binh Thuan Province and is located 200 km east of Saigon on Highway Nº1, which runs from Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) to Nha Trang, then to Hanoi. The most beautiful part of the Province's 200km of coast line is the Bay of Mui Né. Binh Thuan Province is considered to be the dryest area in all of Vietnam with an average temperature of 26,6 Cº, and an average annual rainfall of 1,008 mm. As in the rest of South Vietnam there are two seasons: the rainy season from May to October with south-westerly winds, and the dry season from November to April with north-easterly winds.
The Mui
Né Bay, which is situated just a few kilometers out
of Phan Thiet, offers a stretch of more than 16 km of
pristine white sand beaches, bordered with coconut trees
and the famous Red Sand Dunes as background. These sand
dunes stretch well beyond the Mui Né Cape and are a
perfect spot for excursions off the beaten track.
